Dear Tatman007, I was wondering if Sage's Urban Art Tattoo and Piercing Studio will tat anyone under 18 as long as their legal guardian is present, I do know that some places offer that. --Erik
Thank you for putting your trust in us, but we don't offer our services to minors. There are some less reputable shops that will offer it...But I cannot stress the importance of your minors health being at risk. Your child is maturing daily: Therefore, something that he/she picks today may not be Cool tomorrow and he/she will have serious resentment towards the parent for consenting and the shop for performing. Their bodies are growing daily: Going thru extreme changes as they go thru puberty. A tattoo that started on the forearm may one day end up on the upper arm (not where they intended it to be). Their schedules are hectic these days: Tattoos take a lot of healing time and care. With schedules being as hectic and hanging out being so important, they may not remember to put on their healing ointment, to clean it, to shield it from the sun, not to scratch or pick at it, not to touch it with dirty hands, etc. I understand your wanting to please your son/daughter, but if they just wait until they are eighteen and do it on their own, they will be much happier in the end. When looking for reputable shops, please look to be sure that they are members of the Alliance of Professional Tattooist and that they adhere to the Standard Precautions rule set forth by OSHA. Urban Art Tattoo is certified by the American Red Cross, The Alliance of Professional Tattooists (APT), the Association of Professional Piercers (APP), and Occupational Safety Hazard Association (OSHA) You should try to find a shop with credentials and good moral standards. Just because a shop tells you they will do it doesn't mean they are a good shop. Do your homework. Check the APT website for their listing and for information on what to look for in a tattoo shop. Association of Professional Piercers ww.safepiercing.org Alliance of Professional Tattooist www.safetatttoos.com American Red Cross www.redcross.org Occupational Safety Hazard Act www.OSHA.gov Phoenix Better Business Bureau www.phoenix.bbb.org You can also check with the Better business bureau and make sure that the shop has no complaints that would concern you. I believe I have covered every base, and I hope this gives you something to go by. Remember that tattoos are forever. It cost and hurts ten times more to have them removed or covered, if it's even possible. I hope I've answered your question to your satisfaction. Please reconsider having your minor tattooed at this time. You will both be happier in the end. Should you have any more questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at your convenience. We are here to serve you. Our numbers are as follows: Urban Art Tattoo & Piercing
